First Impressions and Features
Here at Field Test Journal we are testing PORTER CABLE’s 20V MAX Lithium Ion 1/2 Inch Hog Ring Impact Wrench (PCC740). This tool is the first cordless impact wrench from PORTER CABLE and operates on any PORTER CABLE 20V MAX Lithium Ion battery but our came with 4.0 Ah battery.
First impressions were that it had the size and weight needed to match the jobs it was designed for, that it is heavier duty than our 1/4 drive impact driver. Since we had been testing the corded version of this tool, we were already familiar with the hog ring anvil set up. Balance and ergonomics seemed good from the get-go.
The new impact driver features a 1/2 Inch hog ring anvil for quick and easy socket changes. 330 ft-lbs of max torque. The 1/2 inch hog ring anvil allows for quick and easy socket changes. A variable speed trigger enables the user to control the tool’s speed and delivers 0-1,700 Rotations Per Minute (RPM) and 0-2,500 Impacts Per Minute (IPM) to complete heavy-duty applications quickly.
We are already finding the elimination of cords and hoses make this tool convenient and efficient. In our early testing on a stock trailer project, the tool has proven to handle all of the duties of lug nut removal and bolts for the suspension system.
The 20V MAX Lithium Ion 1/2 Inch Hog Ring Impact Wrench (PCC740) is 9.9 inches in length and, combined with the 4.0 Ah battery, weighs 6lbs. The tool also includes an LED work light.
