New BOLT Mounting System Wins SEMA 2015 New Product Award

BOLT J-MOUNT JEEP HI-LIFT JACK MOUNT WINS SEMA
2015 NEW PRODUCT AWARD

MILWAUKEE – The new BOLT (Breakthrough One-Key Lock Technology) J-Mount(tm) Jeep hi-lift jack bracket mounting system was named a 2015 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association) New Product Award winner in the Van/Pickup/Sport Utility category. With 16 different award categories, this popular annual competition recognizes outstanding achievements in the development of products being introduced to the specialty automotive aftermarket at the SEMA Show.

BOLT’s uniquely-designed Jeep accessory, the J-Mount, allows Jeep TJ and JK off-road enthusiasts to securely attach their hi-lift jack to the side of their vehicle for easy, vertical access, and features the one-key convenience of BOLT lock technology. This patented innovation permanently programs the lock to the Jeep owner’s vehicle ignition key, eliminating the need for extra keys.  Once the ignition key is inserted into the lock cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down and the first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key.  An auto-return spring locks automatically when the key is removed.

SEMA used a number of important product aspects as judging criteria for the award, including potential, innovativeness, consumer appeal, quality and workmanship, and availability (cost). “We designed the J-Mount and our other Jeep products to offer the simplified, convenient security of BOLT’s one-key lock technology to Jeep owners, on-the-go consumers that really benefit from easy access to protect their vehicle’s accessories, spare tire, under-hood contents, trailers and equipment,” said Erika Garcia, BOLT national sales manager. SEMA attendees can learn more about the J-Mount and all of BOLT’s products at Booth #35133 Upper South Hall. For more information on the complete selection of Jeep lock products, visit BOLTLock.com.

BOLT and other SEMA New Product Award winners will be recognized at the annual SEMA Industry Awards Banquet on the evening of Thursday, November 5.

CORSA Performance Exhaust Now Available For Dodge Durango

CORSA PERFORMANCE EXHAUST NOW AVAILABLE FOR DODGE DURANGO

BEREA, Ohio – In response to tremendous grassroots interest from Dodge Durango owner forums, CORSA now offers premium exhaust systems for 2011-2014 Dodge Durango SUVs equipped with the 5.7-liter HEMI engine, bringing the company’s patented no-drone Reflective Sound Cancellation (RSC) technology and rich, high-performance Sport sound level to owners of the third-generation Durango.

“CORSA exhausts are very popular among vehicle owners who respect advanced technology and top-quality construction, and now Durango owners can experience the sound and performance that CORSA exhausts provide,” said Craig R. Kohrs, vice president and general manager, TMG Performance Products.

CORSA’s straight through cat-back design for the Dodge Durango is constructed with 304L stainless steel, 2.5-inch diameter piping and features a CORSA X-pipe which allows the exhaust configuration to outflow the stock exhaust by an incredible 50 percent.

The exhaust system is finished off with huge 4.5-inch tips which fit flawlessly into the existing bumper cut-outs, polishing off the look of the Dodge Durango. CORSA offers the system in either a polished finish (part #14459) or black PVD-coated tips (part #14459BLK), both laser etched with the CORSA logo. PVD, physical vapor deposition, is a vacuum coating process that vaporizes solid metal to a plasma of atoms or molecules, resulting in a vapor that is deposited as a high-performance coating. CORSA’s PVD-coated Pro-Series Tips display a deep, brilliant, reflective black finish that won’t chip, flake or peel and resists corrosion.

CORSA exhaust systems are backed by a limited lifetime warranty, are 50-state emissions legal and will not void the factory warranty. NITTO TIRE NAMED TITLE SPONSOR OF 2015 KING OF THE HAMMERS

Manufacturer of race-winning Grappler off-road tires rolls forward in support of Ultra4’s premier event as Title Sponsor of the 9th Annual “King of the Hammers.”

Fast Facts:

  • Proven winner Nitto Grappler light-truck tires officially aligned with world’s toughest one-day off-road race in the USA.
  • Nitto involvement escalates from 2014 Presenting Sponsor to 2015 Title Sponsor.
  • Nitto-powered LiveAtKOH.com website provides new level of social interaction to the race.

Cypress, Calif. (January 8, 2015) – On December 22, 2014, Nitto Tire U.S.A. signed an agreement with Hammerking Productions (Ultra4) to be title sponsor of the 2015 Nitto King of the Hammers (KOH) race. Nitto Tire was previously the race’s presenting sponsor.

The King of the Hammers race is recognized as America’s toughest one-day event in off-road racing and covers 200+ miles on a course that combines triple-digit-speed desert sections with technical boulder climbs that often require winching. The 2015 running – the ninth annual King of the Hammers — will be the first one with Nitto Tire as the title sponsor.

“Nitto has had a great relationship with Hammerking Productions, Ultra4 and its flagship race, King of the Hammers (KOH), for the past five years,” said, Chris Corbett, Nitto Tire U.S.A.’s Events & Motorsports Manager. “When Nitto came out to race KOH for the first time, we knew some great challenges would lay ahead for the Grappler line. After listening, learning, and then developing some of the best products in off-road, we’ve had some dominant wins with some of the most talented drivers in the sport. Out of these repeated wins we learned of shared goals with Dave Cole (owner of KOH) and his growth vision within future KOH races. So when presented with the long-term opportunity to retain the title sponsorship, we jumped at the chance to support a race for which Nitto feels has great current and future potential for all involved.”

Previous title sponsor Griffin Radiators endorsed the move. “Over the past several years, Griffin Radiator as well as the Beebe family have enjoyed every moment that King of the Hammers (KOH) has afforded us,” said marketing director Steve Beebe. “We took a leap of faith on a start-up event but, more importantly, we invested in great people. It is because of those great people that KOH has grown to the incredible success that it is today. Moving forward, the event’s potential is higher than ever, and that is why we are pleased to welcome long-time supporter Nitto Tire as the new title sponsor. Griffin will continue to provide support to both the event as a whole and to individual race teams. We are very excited about the continued growth of KOH and to see what new levels of success can be reached with the support of KOH family member Nitto Tire.”

Dave Cole, president of Hammerking Productions/Ultra4 Racing, added: “Nitto Tire is one of our most valued partners. They quickly stepped up when this sponsorship opportunity arose. Nitto’s increased participation will help make the 2015 Nitto King of the Hammers the biggest and best yet: for fans, racers, spectators and off-road enthusiasts in general.”

The Nitto King of the Hammers race for the unlimited Ultra4 vehicles takes place on February 6, 2015, in Johnson Valley, California. “Hammertown” on Means Dry Lake will open on January 30 to kick off a full week of ultimate desert & rock action. Competition begins with the King of the Motos race on February 1-2. The carnage-fest East/West Shootout on February 2 pits Southeastern Rock Racing Series (SRRS) drivers against Ultra4 racers in an obstacle course challenge.

Competition continues on February 4 with the Polaris KOH UTV race. Street-based 4x4s hit the course on February 5 for the Smittybilt Everyman Challenge. The action peaks on Friday February 6 with the main event: The Nitto Tire King of the Hammers race. Competitors will spend all day (and part of the night for the non-front-runners) on the approximately 225-mile course. Some sections are conducive to triple-digit speeds while the rock obstacles can knock competitors out of the race in slow-motion rollovers and broken parts. The “King” will be officially crowned on Saturday morning, followed by new-for-2015 “KOH The Experience” enthusiast trail rides.

Nitto-powered social media for the event will be live before the KOH East/West Shootout driver drawing on January 8, 2015. LiveAtKOH.com and #LiveAtKOH will provide social interaction and updates before, during and after King of the Hammers 2015.

UTV Inc. Takes Baja 1000 in RZR XP 4 1000

Jagged X takes second, Team UXC Racing finished fourth on Scrambler XP 1000 EPS and seals Sportsman ATV Championship.

Minneapolis, Nov. 20, 2014-This year’s point-to-point Baja 1000 was 1275 miles of brutal terrain testing both machine and driver. Polaris RZR would go into the race as the defending champion, and the Scrambler XP 1000 would make a maiden voyage with Team UXC racing at the helm.
Nineteen side-by-sides, including 13 RZRs, would start the race and eight side-by-sides, six being RZRs, would finish. First-time Baja 1000 driver of record Johnny Angal of UTV Inc., and his drivers Brian Bush, Branden Sims and Justin Quinn, in their No. 1919 RZR XP 4 1000 would take the grueling race. Jagged X in the No. 1932 with drivers Matt Parks, Brandon Schueler and Craig Scanlon took second.
UTV Inc. and Jagged X would keep things interesting throughout the race battling the whole way down the peninsula. There would be lead changes, break downs and even a tangle between the two, but, in the end, the two would finish the 33-and-a-half hour race, three minutes apart. Even more impressive, UTV Inc. and Jagged X would finish 47 and 48 overall with about 239 starters and 140 finishers. Also finishing in the Top 5 for UTVs would be the No. 1921 RZR of Jamie Kirkpatrick/Tire Balls in fourth and the No. 1923 of Ben Bischoff who was driving a brand-new Holz Racing Products built Polaris RZR in his first UTV race ever, finishing fifth. Polaris Factory Racer Cognito Racing would finish seventh in the No. 1908, and the No. 1927 RZR of Frank Bushman was eighth.
On the ATV side, Team UXC Racing would come into the Baja 1000 leading the Sportsman Quad Class as the lone 4×4 going up against sport quads all season. The Baja 1000 would see 15 ATVs in the Sportsman Quad Class take the line, four being Scrambler XP ATVs including Team UXC Racing’s No. 140A. Team UXC Racing’s Don Higbee, Michael Swift, Chris Robinson, Jason Wade and Michael Burrows would finish fourth out of six finishers, mark in the history books the first national series ATV title for the new Scrambler XP 1000 and show the viability of the Scrambler as a desert race vehicle.
“Competing in the Baja 1000 takes an incredible amount of planning
and dedication, and Polaris would like to congratulate all racers running Polaris vehicles on their successes,” said Donna Beadle, race team manager for Polaris. “Polaris is extremely honored to have a RZR win the UTV class for the second year in a row, and thanks Team UXC Racing for showing the desert racing community that the Scrambler is the real deal in the desert.”

Forest Management Crew Transport

I was up trail riding deep in the Oregon rain forest on a Polaris Scrambler XP 1000 when I happened upon Avel Salgado and his crew. Avel owns and operates Oregon Forest Management Services, which provides a variety of forest management services that a lot of people have never heard of.
On this particular day, the OFMS crew was working on a slash and squirt operation that precisely applies herbicide to invasive tree and brush species in a reforestation unit. His crew members were half way through a work day of using machetes to hack deep cuts in small trees and lobbing off brush so they could apply a small amount of herbicide directly to the fresh cut in the plants.
Other non-logging services provided by OFMS include tree thinning , tree planting and boomer trapping.
Salgado has several Ford trucks that he and his foremen take into Oregon’s rain forests every day. The top priority for these trucks is safely transporting crew members to the forest units (designated land areas where a particular forest industry operation is taking place).
Salgado’s trucks must be tough, reliable and capable of hauling water tanks, chainsaws and other supplies to the job site. Salgado’s fleet of Fords endure some tough conditions on logging roads, which often take them hours away from civilization. Reliability is a top priority for these trucks which see true Super Duty.
