The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles is a 9-day race located in Morocco, Africa where approximately 160 teams and 300 competitors come together to tackle the terrain without the help of GPS. Using nothing but outdated maps, teams are forced to navigate through the incredibly tough terrain with nothing but a compass and their will to succeed. This navigational challenge will be a true test for the Kawasaki IMG Motorsports team. They will navigate with the goal of traveling the shortest distance from Point A to Point B, ranging anywhere from 700 miles to 3,000 miles.

Emily Miller, former pro racer and one of the first Americans to participate in this race, is mentoring Sara and Erica along with Kirsten Kuhn, who is the US Team/Media Liaison for the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles. Sara and Erica will have to overcome the challenges of a language barrier, an unvisited country, and unfamiliar desert.

Sara Price previously raced for Kawasaki as a professional women’s motocross racer making history in 2010 as the first ever female factory supported racer in motocross. Sara also achieved over 16 Amateur Championships on a Kawasaki during her amateur racing career as well as medaling in X-Games. Sara crossed over into the Side X Side racing in 2012, racing many different disciplines in a UTV and fast became a force to reckon with. She is also going to be the youngest American to race in the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles’ 25-year history.

Erica Sacks has over 15 years of off-road racing experience. She has been all over Baja and has raced the longest race in the US, giving her the knowledge necessary to compete in this long race. She has raced in a variety of off-road cars from Trophy Karts to Class 1 cars, and has the experience and navigational skills required when racing in the most prestige races held in Baja. She recently finished second place in a UTV at the 2014 Lake Elsinore Grand Prix.

“Racing in the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles has been a dream of mine to test my skill and also have this experience of a lifetime. Having a long history working with Erica from on-the-track to in the garage, I feel we couldn’t be a better team to do this. I’m very excited to be back with Kawasaki and have their support and can’t wait to make America proud” commented Sara Price. Erica’s excited about this new partnership as well and commented, “When Sara came to me about being her teammate for the rally, I thought this is crazy, but what a fun experience! Sara and I have been friends for many years. This last year I have been involved as her spotter in her UTV racing and working together with her on her UTV. I’m looking forward to taking our racing friendship to Morocco as team USA, Kawasaki, IMG Motorsports.”

Team USA, Kawasaki, IMG Motorsports are asking for their fans be a part of this amazing, first-ever American race team at the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles! A Crowd Funding Campaign has been started to help support this team at www.darkhorsepros.com/campaigns/88, where fans and supporters have the chance to come on board to join and support them in this amazing journey.nkQeimACUdGujnr4f6rzTLvSYem9_M7VokLU0T0_I5k

Polaris Announces Grand Opening of Manufacturing Facility in Poland

Opole Mfg Facility IMG_9401 8.5.2014The brand-new facility will be Polaris’ first dedicated manufacturing facility
for Off-Road Vehicles outside North America

MINNEAPOLIS (Sept. 23, 2014) – Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE:PII) today announced the grand opening of its new manufacturing facility in Opole, Poland. The 345,000-square-foot facility will be the first Polaris plant dedicated to manufacturing Off-Road Vehicles (ORV’s) outside of North America.

Employee training has already begun at the Opole facility which will employ 300 people in 2015 and should begin shipments to customers in the first quarter of 2015. The plant will produce approximately 35 different ORV vehicle models in 2015 and ship them to six subsidiaries and over thirty distributors in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (“EMEA”) region. Opole will also house research and design for the Europe, Middle East and Africa markets allowing vehicles to be tailored to local needs.

“With a stated goal of a third of our total Company sales outside North America, the Opole facility is a cornerstone for our international growth plans, as it provides both a timely capacity increase and a localized manufacturing presence that allows us to provide the best possible experience for our customers across Europe, the Middle East and Africa,” said Scott Wine, Polaris Chairman and CEO. “We are incredibly excited to add the highly-skilled employees in Poland to our outstanding Polaris team and confident in their ability to spur ongoing growth in the EMEA region.”

“With our engineering and manufacturing assets in Poland, we will be able to develop and manufacture products specifically for this market. We will reduce the order lead time for our customers and will be able to provide better customer service. We also have opportunities to source more of our component parts locally from suppliers within the region. This will be a big benefit to this entire region” said Suresh Krishna, Vice President, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Allowing Polaris to manufacture products locally for the EMEA region, the Opole facility will improve the supply chain and help the company keep up with strong demand for its wide range of products. The facility will also focus on operational efficiency by incorporating LEAN manufacturing processes such as 5S implementation and visual management methodology.

“This project is the greatest example that dreams come true. We are very proud that Polaris has decided to choose Opole as a partner on the other side of the ocean,” said Opole President Ryszard Zembaczyński. “It was a big challenge to complete this project for the City, Opole institutions and Opole University of Technology. I do believe Polaris feels here at home.”
The Opole facility took just over a year to construct with only 15 months lapsed from the time the building contract was signed to production start. The Building features include a 2,500 meter product test track and energy saving paint systems. The plant has capacity for up to 500 employees to help Polaris meet future market demand.

This facility is built on nearly 30 acres, within the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone in Opole, Poland, an area dedicated to encouraging economic growth in the region.

Lazer Star Lights Racer Series LED Lights

5656034b-a06c-4263-a8c2-b7336e37187cPaso Robles, Calif. – September 10, 2014 – Off-road racers competing in series like the Best in the Desert, SCORE and Ultra4 know that good lighting on their truck, buggy or UTV can make the difference between crossing the finish line and a race ending collision with an unseen obstacle or vehicle. That’s why Lazer Star Lights is now offering their Racer Series LED light bars for competitors and consumers who want race-ready lighting for their vehicle both on and off the race course. These are the same lights that can be found on the race vehicles driven by Matt Lovell, Derek and Jason Murray and Bryan Buckhannon in BITD/SCORE, and Levi and Brian Shirley in Ultra4.

Lazer Star’s Racer Series LED light bars use genuine 3-watt Cree® LEDs for durable, efficient, high-output lighting at 300 lumens per LED. Each Lazer Star LED light housing is IP68 certified waterproof and dustproof and 8.6g vibration compliant, making them some of the toughest lighting solutions available anywhere.

For great forward visibility no matter the weather or track conditions, Lazer Star’s Racer Special double row lights are a perfect solution. Racer Specials offer the unique combination of a single row of standard white and a single row of dust-cutting amber LEDs in a far-reaching spot pattern for maximum visibility. Racer Special lights are available in 6, 12 and 28 inch lengths to fit any application.c837ab3d-8694-42fc-a56f-61b800034333

Lazer Star’s 6 inch Atlantis 3-watt single row LED lights in red, amber and blue or the 18 inch all-in-one taillight bar including three colors; blue strobe, amber constant and red brake on each end. These options are the perfect solution for those looking to meet taillight requirements for their race series, or just trying to increase the visibility of their vehicle. The 36° flood beam pattern offers great visibility from any angle, and the compact, lightweight form factor make them easy to install.
